March 25th
The students have been working well this week. They have gotten a bit more talkative, but I think some of that is because of Spring and the kiddos want to be outside. They are also anticipating that long week off….I think I am too. : )
We had an assembly on Wednesday featuring Chinese Acrobats. The children really enjoyed this. Today, we went to our 5th grade buddy classroom to do a craft. They love time with their buddies.
Just a heads up:
I will be sending home book bags in some students’ homework folders starting on Monday. The book I send home is not meant to replace the books your child reads at home for practice, but to supplement them with “Just-Right” reading books that are tailored to their reading level. Reading this book each night before their own book choice will help your child build confidence with new text, improve fluency and increase understanding. I have picked the first book this week for each child. In future weeks, I will try my hardest to have the kids pick the books that they are interested in that are at their reading level.
**Lastly, On April 27, the 2nd grade classes will be taking a field trip to the Woodland Park Zoo. I will be sending out information about costs and chaperones soon. Please look for more informarion in your students’ homework folder this coming week.**
Have a nice weekend.
