This next week in reading, , we will continue reading in our small groups and reviewing specific strategies that we have covered this year.
In writing, the kiddos are continuing to write in their writer’s notebook. We will also be disecting and correct sentences as a class. This will help the students recognize errors in punctuation, capitalization and spelling. The students have begun to publish their last large writing piece of the year. They are working on writing a story with characters, a setting and a beginning, middle and end. They will be binding these in hard covers which they will be decorating.
In math , we are continuing our study on measurement and 3-D shapes. The small unit test will be on Tuesday. Please look for the practce test coming home on Monday to review with your students. Our next, and last unit of the year, will cover multiplication and fractions. (1 m. = 100 cm. 1 m. = 10 dm. 1 dm. = 10 dm.)
We will be beginning a small unit on health which will cover eating healthy, getting enough sleep, dental care and poisonous materials.
